Biography and History of The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones are a rock band formed in London, England. The Rolling Stones formed in 1962. They also participate in the British Invasion to the US, along side with The Beatles from Liverpool. The Rolling Stones also considered as the greatest artist of the 1960s and one of the greatest band all time. The first formation of The Rolling Stones were Mick Jagger on lead vocals, Brian Jones on guitar and harmonica, Ian Stewart on piano, Keith Richards on guitar and backing vocals, Bill Wyman on bass and Charlie Watts on drums. Later, Brian Jones left the band about a month prior to his death in 1969. His position was replaced by Mick Taylor, who was replaced by Ronnie Wood in 1975. Since Wyman's departure in 1993, bassist Darryl Jones has been a collaborator rather than an actual band member.

The Rolling Stones considered as symbols and leaders of rebellious youth in thr 60s and 70s. They also released many hit singles, and became number one in international chart, especially in the UK and America. Between 1960s and 1970s, they released many high-profile album, such Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971) and Exile on Main St. (1972). This periode regareded as the golden era of The Rolling Stones, with many of their song dominate the music industry. Until present day, The Rolling Stones have released 29 studio albums, 18 live albums, and also many compilations albums (see Top 10 Best The Rolling Stones Songs).

The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. They were ranked fourth on the list 100 greatest artists of all time according Rolling Stone magazine. Their estimated album sales are more than 250 millions. The Rolling Stones also ranked 10th on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artist chart. With all that achievement, not surprise if The Rolling Stones considered as one of the greatest band of all time.
