Green Day is an American punk rock band. Green Day formed in Berkeley, California, US in 1987. Green Day consisted by Billie Joe Armstrong as lead vocalist and guitarist, Mike Dirnt as bassist, and Tre Cool as drummer also Jason White as additional guitarist, who became a full member after playing in the band as a session and touring guitarist for 13 years. Green Day's musical style influenced with punk rock  music. They have won several awards, including 5 Grammy Awards. Green Day also considered as one of current most popular rock band in the world.

Originally, Green Day was part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. In 1994, Green Day release their first major label album named Dookie, and became a breakout success with 10 million copies sold over in the US. Green Day credited as lead band in 90s era who popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States, alongside some other California bands such The Offspring or Rancid. They were regarded as one of the best band in the 1990s.

In the millenium era, Green Day also gain massive popularity, especially after the band release American Idiot album in 2004. The album was success and collect two Grammy Awards on Best Rock Album and Record of The Year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams. This album also make Green Day more popular with a younger generations. 21st Century Breakdown album in 2009 become the next Green Day album that won Best Rock Album on Grammy Awards. In 2012, the band release trilogy albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! that released on September, November and December respectively. Until present day, Green Day has release 11 studio albums.
