Biography and History of Queen

Queen are a rock band from London, England. Queen formed in 1970, and originally consisting of Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar), John Deacon (bass), and Roger Taylor (drums). Queen's earliet music style were influenced by hard rock and progressive rock. However, Queen later change his music and become more soft, more convetional and also radio-friendly. Queen also try some other music such rock opera or jazz. Queen was one of the most popular and most influenced group or band in the music industry. Their estimation album sales more than 300 millions world-wide, making Queen as one of the best-selling music artists in the world of all time.

Biography and History of Queen

Formed in 1970, Queen's first formation were consist of Freddie MercuryBrian MayJohn Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Queen enjoyed first success in the UK with their debut and later with their second album, Queen II. But the release of Sheer Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera that made Queen gained the international succes at world-wide. The band's single from A Night at the Opera album titled Bohemian Rhapsody stayed at number one UK singles chart for 9 weeks, and number one in several other chart song in world-wide. This song recognized as the first song with video music. Bohemian Rhapsody also considered as one of the greatest song of the 1970s, even all time, according some music critics.

Queen continue their mainstream succes with released album News of the World in 1977. This album contain two of rock's most recognisable anthems, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. By the early 1980s, Queen held many big concert, including their performance at 1985's Live Aid. This show regarded as one of the greatest performance in rock history.

In 1991, Queen's vocalist Freddie Mercury died. He died because a complication of AIDS. In 1997 John Deacon retired. Brian May and Roger Taylor are the only left in Queen. Since then, May and Taylor have infrequently performed together, including a collaboration their performance which ended in May 2009.

Queen's estimates album sale are more than 300 million albums, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists of all time. They also received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award in 1990, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in America in 2001.
